Polydimethylsiloxane, also known as PDMS or dimethicone, is a silicone-based polymer with a repeating unit of dimethylsiloxane. It is a colorless, odorless, and non-toxic liquid or gel-like substance with excellent thermal stability, electrical insulating properties, and water repellency.

Dimethicone 1000 is polydimethylsiloxane containing a phenyl group, which is introduced into the molecular chain of dimethyl polysiloxane. It features better high temperature resistance, radiation resistance, lubrication performance, and solubility than dimethyl polysiloxane.

Applications

Mainly used in color cosmetics, hair care products and most skin cream and emulsion.
