Sapote Oil
It is a light and non-greasy oil that helps to balance the production of sebum, reduces skin flaking as well as dry patches, and is used as a treatment for painful skin problems.
Sapote oil, also known as sapuyul or sapayulo oil, is pressed from the seeds of the mamey sapote (Pouteria sapota), a fruit tree native to South America. The oil is described as having an "almond-like odor" and a "mild, pleasant taste", and is also used as a cooking oil in some tropical countries.
The seeds themselves are reported to be toxic. The seed oil has been used in soaps and cosmetics, as a base for some aromatherapy compounds and as a sedative, skin tonic and hair revitalizer.
The cosmetic properties of sapote oil
Sapote oil is obtained by cold-pressing the seeds of the sapote fruit. This plant is similar to the avocado, is an evergreen tropical and comes mainly from Mexico.
Its aroma is sweet and fruity and it has a delicate and pleasant taste. Its skin is thick, woody and brown in colour, while its interior has a reddish-orange hue.
This natural product is rich in vitamins A, B, C and E and antioxidants. It is mostly composed of oleic acid.
Its extraordinary properties were already known to the ancient peoples of the Mayas and Aztecs, who used sapote oil to create hair packs to strengthen, soften and shine their hair.
Sapote oil is light and balances sebum production, helping those with an overly oily or excessively dry scalp.
Due to its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and cell-repairing properties, this oil is useful for alleviating annoying conditions such as dandruff or eczema.
In addition, thanks to its essential oils, it can help prevent damage to the hair caused by free radicals, improving shine, elasticity and hydration.

Usage in Soaps, Lotions, and Cosmetics
In soap making, sapote oil is used at a rate of 3-5% of the total oils used in the recipe. This helps to provide a creamy and moisturizing lather, which is gentle on the skin. In lotions and creams, sapote oil can be used at a higher concentration, up to 10%, to provide maximum hydration and nourishment for the skin. In cosmetics, sapote oil can be used as a carrier oil for essential oils, or as a standalone ingredient in lip balms, hair masks, and other products.
